Kilyos (Kumköy for some) is a village located to the North of Istanbul, in the Sariyer district.
It has been popular with its beaches for ages as a seaside resort on the Black Sea coast.
Places to see
The village does not offer a lot to see in terms of historical places.
It has a 14th century Genoese castle in the village, which was restored during the era of the Ottoman sultan Mahmud II. Howeve it is not open to public since it is located in the military zone.
There are a historical cistern, eight cannons, and a 26 meter-high monumental plane tree spectacular in the castle area.
However this village is one of the best alternatives for swimming in the summer time.
